A picture of the Eiffel Tower in the background must be every girl’s dream. I remember putting up Eiffel posters at my closet’s door so that every time I open it, I will be reminded and inspired to make it happen one day. And at last! that day came. It was the second week of December 2014 when one of my dreams came true. It was our last Saturday in the city and we were set to leave the day after tomorrow.
With the help of Google map in our phones, we walked our way towards one of the world’s most iconic structures. I was quietly walking but inside, I was having mixed emotions; the combination of happiness, excitement, and a self-reminder that we should be extra careful in this part of the city.
The tower is indeed an outstanding beauty from afar. All the tourists who were on their way to see the Eiffel stopped at one point just admire the view from afar and, of course, took photos after. 😉
Before capturing this picture (the photo above), I had to savor the moment and breathe. Carefully, I took my phone out and took the shot. The tower is just breath-taking! She stands there, in the middle, like a beauty queen and owning the place. After a few more snaps, we walked closer to the building so we can have a closer look.
While walking, we saw some street entertainers who were later on approached by the police and they were asked to leave their spots. Then comes the vendors holding different souvenirs, all having that common Eiffel design on them. With so many people and things going on around, it is so easy to lose focus. But that should never happen and thankfully, I went there with my husband and we get to check each other from time to time. It is good to have someone tap me on the shoulder and bring me back from that state of euphoria.
Finally, we reached the tower and that moment when I was standing under this famous building, all I can say was, OMG! OMG! OMG! haha! Funny, I know! but it is a dream come true! Again, I AM STANDING UNDER THE EFFIN’ EIFFEL TOWER! (sorry for the expression! 😀)
I never want to miss this shot. 🙂
We were told that we should not miss going up the tower, but because of the long queue, we did not bother to join the line. Who knows, maybe next time when we come back? 🙂 We just moved on and walked further so we can have a better shot and lots of selfies and we-fies, and yes, we have our own monopod (also known as selfie-stick). Thanks to that device because we got good photos together without bothering other tourists to do it for us.
Such happiness in the atmosphere and I just love watching the other tourists take photos – from a family picture to couple’s photo to unlimited selfies. We took our sweet time and even sat on the bench before finally deciding to where to go next.
And just before leaving, I gave the tower that one last look and whispered, “Thank you, we will see you again soon!”
