Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a Kitchen Aid mixer to die for, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks). She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O. Adding insult to O-less, she also has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Every moan, spank, and—was that a meow?—punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has—yep, you guessed it—no O. Enter Simon Parker. When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Their late-night hallway encounter has…well…mixed results. Because with walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick. A delicious mix of silly and steamy, this is an irresistible tale of exasperation at first sight
I can’t exactly remember how I got to this book, but I found it on Goodreads and read the brief description. The title was a bit ridiculous but in my mind, I just want to laugh with hints of sexiness so I requested for a sample. And as I was heading towards the end of my sample copy from Amazon, I know I want this novel and so I bought it and oh my goodness! Good thing I did! because this book was so good that my face and mouth got tired! Tired of smiling and laughing because it got this perfect ratio of raunch & romance.
This is Simon referring to the infamous zucchini bread baked by Caroline.
Dangerous Flirtations! Oh, la la!
I highly approve that I want to say if you don’t know how to flirt, you better read this and learn, lady! I’ve read books that attempted to have this kind of chemistry but failed miserably because of a lot of things.
Strong women, represent!
Caroline, Mimi & Sophia are my kinda girls! They are strong, independent, confident and supports each other. And thank you for the Asian representation, too! Mimi happens to be a Filipina. They won’t have your shits, alright! They know what they want their worth. Confidence is sexy!
“I am a fucking catch!”
I love how Alice Clayton, the author, laid out the story. As a romance reader, everything that I wanted is present in this book and I enjoyed the story development between Caroline & Simon. I’m on a high reading how they flirt to each other but you know, taking time. Then the presence of their friends made it more fun! Boys vs Girls and BOYS love GIRLS love BOYS.
- the girl who MEOWS! oh this is sooo! hahahha!
- brunch a la Sex in the City
- exchange of text messages between the characters
- thought bubbles in the car on the way back to the city 😅😅😅
- when Simon confronted her because she faked it! OMGGGGGG!
- when she revealed her feelings and killed her brioche
Again, this novel was laugh-out-loud funny, incredibly sexy (especially towards the end) and then combine good food, travel to Spain & friendship.
The witty banters, the nicknames and sexy moments – there’s nothing that I want to change in this book. Caroline & Simon are just… *sigh.
Anyway, I just think that everyone should experience this kind of novel in their lives. I just do. Okay… wow… this book is just… soo good! This is one of my favourite reads for 2019.
